Do You Want True Privacy for Your Backed Up Photos on Cloud?

CloudBacko is by far the best cloud backup software available today. The company behind CloudBacko has managed to make a name for itself by producing a product that meets all the expectations of its clients. From individuals to top corporations, all utilize this amazing software to keep their private data completely secure. One of the most amazing features of CloudBacko (and unique in its field) even allows you true privacy for your backed up photos on any cloud service.

Unless a photo is taken with the express purpose of publishing it or sharing it with the world in one form or another, it is deemed completely private. Individuals to whom the photos belongs to, have the right to store their photos any way they want. They can keep it with them in the form of the hard copy, they could keep a soft copy on their personal storage drives or they can even store them on a cloud service to retrieve or view them anytime and from anywhere they want. Cloud services might offer you an excellent method of storage and retrieval, but their services considerably lack when it comes to ensuring your privacy. Because of this lack of privacy, there is a chance that your photos could be displayed on photo sharing websites. The best possible method of ensuring that your photos remain truly private is to encrypt them on your end before you back them up on a cloud service. With CloudBacko, you can accomplish these tasks with absolute ease.

According to Samuel Chan, the Development Director at CloudBacko, “Privacy matters and is thoroughly cherished in all walks of life. Personal photos reflect your everyday life and if you chose to back them up on cloud storage, then it is only because you want to keep them safe. But a cloud service cannot guarantee that the privacy of your personal photos will not be intruded. For true privacy, there is no better option than CloudBacko. The software encrypts all your data to the maximum extent using a 256-bit, truly randomized encryption key. This level of encryption is even hard for NSA to break. This means that only you can view or retrieve your photos in their original format.”

The randomized key not only encrypts the data but folders and file names as well. This feature only adds to the stringent security. By choosing CloudBacko, you ensure that all your data remains 100% protected, no matter which cloud destination you chose to back it up.

CloudBacko offers encryption that guarantees safety for your data, even from the NSA

CloudBacko is becoming the prime choice of many organizations looking forward to safeguard their data due the company’s strict data encryption policies

With the controversies revolving around privacy and safety of data over the internet, the world has witnessed significant growth in the use of Virtual Private Networks and similar options that help cover individual user activities. These controversies also challenged the safety of using internet for organizations due to the growing belief that ‘everything on the internet can be tracked, seen, and stolen by anyone who has a little knowhow of the mechanics’.

This was quite evident in the early years of cloud technology as a massive number of companies chose traditional backup methods over cloud backup, wondering if their data was safe.

However, one of the best cloud backup services in the industry, CloudBacko helped organizations evolve out of believing that cloud is unsafe, with its highly reliable services.

CloudBacko helps backup VMware, Hyper-V, SQL, Exchange, Oracle, MYSQL & other files to the top cloud backup platforms like Amazon and Google Drive just to name a few, but the software’s job doesn’t end here. It has been gaining a lot of attention for its bulletproof data encryption that, as the company claims, ‘Even makes it impossible for the NSA to retrieve client information’.

Samuel Chan, the Development Director at CloudBacko explained, “It took quite a while for organizations to realize the true potential of cloud storage and backup solutions. Many of them were dubious that there data is not safe over the cloud. We are glad we have been able to reshape that image with an added feature of our software; 256-bit truly randomized key encryption. This encryption method guarantees that all client data uploaded to cloud backups is protected to the maximum. Even a 10.51 Pentaflops supercomputer needs 3.31 x 1056years to crack such a key.”

Cloudbacko has certainly reshaped the cloud backup industry by highlighting its tremendous benefits and keeping clients covered from all angles with its unparalleled encryption protocols and multi-destination backups.

According to many clients, they choose CloudBacko over other similar services as they can trust the company blindly with their critical operational data.

5 Tips to a More Secure Google Drive

Google Drive is Google’s cloud backup storage service that users utilize to stash their files. What makes Google Drive interesting is that it is integrated into many applications like Google Apps so that it enables users to retrieve information from anywhere.

However still many users are not benefiting from this cloud service from the giant due to concerns mostly revolving around security. Here are a few tips that can help you make your Google Drive more secure:

#1-Setup Google Account Recovery

Let’s say you lost control of your account to someone else as it was left opened somewhere and someone you know guessed your password right. It can happen, and if you are a Google Drive user you should be concerned more than anyone. Luckily, losing account information isn’t the end of it as you can setup Google account recovery options which will allow you to regain control of your account. You can use a security question, your phone number and many other details to be used as your recovery solution.

#2-Make Use Of Two Step Verification

The biggest insecurity to Google Drive data for many people, are their passwords. To avoid this insecurity, use Google’s two step verification solutions. Once activated, you will need to input your password and later a verification code that Google sends to your phone to access you files.

#3-Control All Apps In One Place

If you are unsure about an app and if it might be using your data unethically, you can limit its access to your Google Drive Data. All you need to do is go to Google, click on ‘security’ then click on ‘authorizing applications & sites’. You will be taken to a page where you can limit application access to by clicking a button that says ‘revoke access’.

#4-Secure Files through Google Drive Application

Google Drive is a back-end application that stores files which can later be used by Google applications like Maps, Google Now etc. While it probably won’t hurt, you should keep in mind that most of Google’s applications are not developed by Google. Obviously it is not that you don’t trust anyone, but why take the risk of the stress when you can limit access to anything and everything you wish. In the Google Drive settings go to ‘view authorized apps’ and use the ‘revoke access’ button to restrict access for any application.

#5-Backup Google Drive

It is essential that you take every possible step to secure your Google Drive and backing it up is just another step you should consider. Using CloudBacko, you can backup your Google Drive on a local storage with a few simple clicks. Remember to configure CloudBacko to keep at least two backup copies, one in the local or mapped drive and another on the cloud. Keeping a local backup for your Google Drive will allow you to restore data much quicker than from the cloud.

Using these tips you can ensure foolproof protection for your Google Drive.

Types of Microsoft Exchange Server Backups

Types of Microsoft Exchange Server Backups

Microsoft supports different types of backups for their Exchange Servers. They can be categorized into two major types; online and offline backups. Both of these categories have several subcategories, which are mentioned below:

Online Backups

When Microsoft Exchange backups are performed while the exchange services are running, the backup is called an online backup. The biggest benefit of online backups is that, you don’t have to stop any of the services of the Exchange Server to perform this backup. But, the files that are being used by the running services will be skipped in the backup.

You can use a combination of the Exchange Agent or Exchange-aware, and CloudBacko, to perform online backups of your Microsoft Exchange Servers. There are four different types of online backups available for Exchange Server database.

  1. Full Backup: In a full backup, the whole directory or exchange store will be backed up; including the log files. This backup marks the backed up elements so incremental and differential backups can be performed later.
  2. Copy: A copy backup is similar to the full backup with one exception- no objects are marked when they are backed up.
  3. Incremental: Incremental backup lets you backup subsets of objects that have changed since the last full backup. To back up from incremental backup, you need the incremental backup and a normal backup.
  4. Differential: This type of backup is used to backup the changes in the directory that have happened since the last full backup. A normal backup and differential backup are required to restore data from differential backups

Offline Backups

Offline backups are backups of Exchange Servers, which are performed when there are no exchange services running. This allows the backup software, like CloudBacko, to have access to the entire database. There are two different types of offline exchange backups:

Planned Backups: These backups are performed after properly shutting down all of the exchange services. Planned backups result in consistent and reliable backups.

Unplanned Backups: Unplanned backups become necessary when your Microsoft Exchange Server fails. If a failure occurs, this is the only option you are left with.

You can use CloudBacko, to perform all of the Exchange Server backups mentioned above. With the use of this backup software, the process will be simplified and your data will be more secure.

Microsoft Exchange Server Backup Tips

CloudBacko Pro provides an add-on module to back up Microsoft Exchange Server, both for the whole database or selected individual mailboxes. CloudBacko Pro supports multi-destination concurrent backup, continuous backup of database and individual mailboxes, unlimited mail-level backups and directly restore from backup to original database.

Here are two tips to back up Microsoft Exchange Server.

Tip 1: Check that you have installed the MAPI Client and CDO 1.2.1 on the MS Exchange Server

As Microsoft has pulled out the Microsoft Exchange Server Messaging API (MAPI) client libraries and Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) 1.2.1 from Microsoft Exchange 2007 base product installation, Microsoft provides download page from here for access to these API.

CloudBacko Pro requires these libraries be installed. If these libraries are missing, the following error will be shown.

Missing CDO Object Error

Tip 2: Check that the Windows account used have sufficient permissions to access the Exchange mail boxes.

On the Windows with CloudBacko Pro installed, CloudBacko Pro requires sufficient permission to access the Exchange mail boxes. If the Windows account lacks permission, add the user account to the Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins, and Exchange Organization Administrator groups as shown in the following screen. Then log out and log in the server again.

4 essential features for your next server backup and recovery tool

Data backup and recovery is important for any individual and company. Without effective cloud backup solutions anyone can face huge losses in data, not to mention the costs of data loss associated with it. Companies today, rely immensely on the large amounts of data it has stored in its dedicated servers in order to operate efficiently. Some of this data is confidential and requires security protection of the highest level. For all these reasons and more it is important to use the best server backup software and recovery tool. Some features of a good server backup and recovery tool are discussed below:

Allows Backup to Unlimited Destinations

Any good data recovery and backup tool will allow you to back your data to multiple locations. This flexibility allows you access to date from any location. With maximum or unlimited location storage options available you can choose the one that suits your needs best and you find comfortable working with. Some options for unlimited destinations should include Amazon S3, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Azure, Google Drive, Google Cloud Storage, FTP sites, AWS API Compatible storages and external USB drive.

The Ability to Give One Access to All Locations

having data storage in different cloud locations such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and FTP sites, it will not make much sense if you will have to access all of it separately. Good backup software will allow you to combine all the different data locations as one making it easier to access data.

Uncompromised Security

Security is a feature that should not be overlooked at any cost. Data is the heart of any business and if that is compromised, the business can collapse. Any good backup and data recovery software will provide uncompromised security including password lock, file and folders name encryption, local encryption, and secure military-grade data encryption.

Fast Performance

A good data backup and recovery tool must be quick in terms of making the backup and retrieving it when needed. It should be able to compress the data for storage to enable more space and retrieve it for use within seconds. Backup and Recovery, Without Worries

It is often assumed with cloud backup solutions that your data is safe and secure. It is but you can never be too sure. There is no guarantee that someone won’t hack it or it cannot get infected with a malicious virus. Any kind of problem can arise in your cloud backup data due to negligence. It is important to be vigilant of its protection and security. There are many cloud services available and most of them are free. To choose the best server backup software you need to keep the following considerations in mind:

Accessibility

Storing your data on the cloud means that you should be able to access it from anywhere and anytime. If you are not able to do that, it kills the point for storing it there. Choose a cloud service that will allow you to sync your data with your computer, mobile and other gadgets, in which case you will be able to access it from anywhere even without internet. Web based file management is available on almost all services but not desktop applications.

Security

Cloud computing is as secure as other conventional methods of data storage but data can always be hacked and so it should be protected. You must make sure that the service provider you choose for your cloud storage has security features embedded in order to keep your data safe.

Disaster Recovery

Cloud services come in quite handly when you need to restore lost data. However, your service provider can also face a disaster so you must know in that case how you will be able to get your backup in case you, the service provider are both hit with a data disaster. You should be able to work out all important details with the provider in cases of emergencies as well.

Data Permissions

Often times you can have multiple users assessing your online data. In that case, you need to define who can access the data and who can’t and which data is accessible to the. Data management becomes easier when you know the people who are assessing it and you know which kind of data is being accessed. All this is important in case a problem occurs or something needs to be fixed quickly.

Amazon Vs. Google: Who Wins The Cloud Battle?

There is an epic battle going on between Amazon and Google regarding their cloud services. Anyone related with IT will know its intricacies and understand them. The general consumer who uses cloud on their email will find it difficult to understand the vastness of the cloud and how important it is for both companies. Let’s start with gaining an understanding of what’s really happening.

What Is The Amazon Vs. Google Battle About?

Amazon set foot in the cloud long before Google cloud backup surfaced and is a market leader by a large margin. Amazon started selling cloud services to companies in 2006 and since then it has been able to upgrade, improve and make its services efficient and cost effective. Amazon clearly has many advantages over Google with its cloud services

Even though Google had a late start it had its focus straight. What’s important to understand here is the fact that in the future, cloud will probably become a utility to be sold to companies to store their data. That means the competition for Google and Amazon has become cut throat to get the bigger pie of the IT share of the cloud. Amazon already has big players under its belt such as Netflix and it is no wonder that half the internet faces a crackdown when a part of Amazon’s cloud goes down.

What is In The Cloud For Both Companies?

It is estimated that currently only 13% of the company’s data is stored on the cloud; imagine those numbers growing and the potential of immense profits from the cloud selling services to Amazon and Google. In an effort to increase its market share, Google recently cut back on its prices but Amazon is not far away from doing the same. Since its inception, Amazon has lowered prices of its cloud 42 times. With the ongoing battle and obvious leads that both companies have on their respective clouds, the big question is who will win this battle in the end?

Who Will Ultimately Win?

One factor to consider when comparing the two is who can provide faster services? Both companies are investing heavily in infrastructure. Amazon cloud backup offers cheaper cloud but Google provides services 7 to 9 times faster than Amazon does.

Critics argue that a major factor in Amazon’s lead is the code for the cloud that it specializes in. When Amazon started its cloud services, it also started introducing a separate code to enable cloud compatibility with the different servers. Today, more and more operating systems have the Amazon cloud code making it easier for them to avail Amazon’s services. Amazons estimated revenue for cloud services in 2013 was $3.4 billion. In the end it seems, whatever both companies do, the true consumer of the cloud (big companies) will decide who takes the cloud trophy home!
